INFORMATIVE NEWSLETTER Nº42 – April 2025
Dear Colleagues of the «Caribbean External Quality Assurance Program in Bacteriology and Antimicrobial Resistance»(PCC-CAR):
In this NEWSLETTER we share the document:
“Critical Review of Ampicillin/Sulbactam, Aztreonam/Avibactam, and Imipenem/Relebactam Susceptibility Testing: Interpretive and Diagnostic Proposals Adapted to the Argentine Epidemiological Context” V.1.0 April 2025.
This document includes a detailed update on the susceptibility testing of ampicillin/sulbactam for Acinetobacter baumannii, aztreonam/avibactam for Enterobacterales, and imipenem/relebactam for Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The objective is to provide clinical microbiology laboratories with an analysis of the different diagnostic approaches available and to give recommendations to optimize the laboratory evaluation of therapeutic regimens for these last-line drugs for the treatment of multidrug-resistant GNB.
Please note that these recommendations were developed based on the current epidemiology of GNB in Argentina and may not necessarily apply to other countries/regions.
We are available for any questions.
Best regards and we will keep in touch!
Alejandra Corso, Fernando Pasteran and Paula Gagetti.
